Morrisville Soccer Club's Tuscan Triumph
This spring, Morrisville Soccer Club jetted off on a once-in-a-lifetime tour of Italy. And what a journey it was! From the rolling Tuscan hills to the sparkling canals of Venice, our young athletes packed their days with culture, cuisine, competition… and a healthy dose of football!
The adventure began the moment they touched down in Florence, greeted by our brilliant Tour Manager Paola (armed with local knowledge and a big smile). The team kicked things off in true Italian style – with a vineyard lunch and olive oil tasting in the Tuscan countryside. Bellissimo!
In between devouring delicious pasta and soaking up the scenery, the squad got stuck into some serious football action. Three friendly matches against UC Giovani Vianova, Castelgomberto, and Pedezzi Calcio tested their skills and opened their eyes to new playing styles. The games were competitive, spirited and, most importantly, fun!
Off the pitch, it was a feast of iconic sights and unforgettable experiences: climbing the Leaning Tower of Pisa, exploring the Renaissance walls of Lucca, cheering on Bologna FC vs Inter Milan in a roaring Serie A clash, and being wowed by masterpieces at the Uffizi Gallery.
And let’s not forget the pit stop at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello – because no trip to Italy is complete without a little speed and style!
From the awe of Estense Castle to the magic of Venice, every day brought something new. Whether it was sightseeing in Florence or sharing laughs on the funicular in Montecatini, the players created memories to last a lifetime – both as athletes and friends.
As one parent-chaperone put it:
"Our soccer trip to Italy was an unforgettable experience. The excitement was palpable as we explored beautiful cities, savoured local cuisine, and competed against talented teams. The shared adventures deepened our camaraderie – we’ll be talking about this for years to come!"
