A brand-new international basketball tournament is set to make its debut this summer, as Around the Globe partners with Esselle to deliver an exciting new competitive platform for clubs across the UK and Europe.

Taking place on 28–30 August 2026, the inaugural Around the Globe Basketball Tournament will bring together ambitious teams for a high-intensity weekend of competition, connection and development.

Designed with coaches and players in mind, the tournament aims to go beyond a traditional fixture schedule. Instead, it offers a carefully structured environment where teams can test themselves against varied playing styles, experience new levels of competition, and grow both on and off the court.

James Smith, Director at Esselle, said “This first edition marks an important milestone for both organisations, combining Around the Globe’s vision for international sporting events with Esselle’s expertise in delivering professionally managed tours and tournaments.”

All matches will be played on indoor courts, ensuring a consistent, high-quality playing environment throughout the weekend. Teams will also benefit from a seamless event experience, with logistics carefully managed to allow coaches and players to focus fully on performance. For those staying at St George’s School, coach transfers are included, helping to create a smooth and stress-free tournament environment.

Dom Scott-Robinson, Around the Globe Basketball, commented, “With clubs expected to attend from across the UK and Europe, the tournament will provide a valuable opportunity for players to experience different styles of play, adapt to new challenges, and build confidence in a competitive setting. As a first edition event, places are limited and demand is expected to be high.”

Teams interested in being part of the first Around the Globe Basketball Tournament are encouraged to book early. Secure your team place here.
