Algarve Bowling Holiday 2009
On March 8th a group of 39 set off for the inaugural Dunrig bowling holiday to the Algarve in Portugal. They stayed for seven days at the 4* Hotel Jupiter which was in a prime position overlooking the golden sandy beach in the wonderful resort of Praia da Rocha.
The bowling commenced on Monday on the eight-rink grass green at the Santo Antonio bowls club in Alvor where the hosts, Connie and John, made everyone very welcome and put on a selection of superb food.
The triples competition was the first to be played in the glorious sunshine which continued for the rest of the week especially on finals day when the temperature was above 30 degrees. After the round-robin matches in the triples, the semi-finalists were Lynda Curzon, Jim Hall and Alan Holden, Joan Roscoe, Ray Crossley and Wendy Walton, Olive Spavin, Tommy Bee and Ann Radley, Brian Duncan, Joan Kenyon and John Alcock.
