Rugby Canada Tour 2007
On June 7th, the Lancashire County Rugby
Union squad took off from Manchester Airport headed
for what was to become an extremely successful tour
of Canada with two games in Toronto and an opener
against Newfoundland Rock in St. John’s.
26 players, from eight different Clubs (Sedgley Park,
Waterloo, Bradford & Bingley, Fylde, Macclesfield,
Preston Grasshoppers, Manchester, Nottingham) and
12 officials and supporters enjoyed four nights in
St. John’s and six nights in Toronto.
Three wins against the Canadian opposition came through
tremendous application, will to win and some excellent
skills, leaving President Maurice Parker a very happy
man, and ensuring retiring Team Manager, Don Welsh,
could do so on a high.
